Peonies and Nina

The work of a wedding photographer is never done. We're not complaining. We love every minute of it! We even love the business aspect of things. Seriously... Betty likes making spreadsheets. And Maggie... she answers emails that come in at midnight. Yes, we are obsessed with our jobs. But that's not a bad thing is it?

This week is going to get busier as it goes on, and blogging is going to have to be moved to the bottom of our "to do" list. We are meeting with new couples every night for the next 7 days! We're a little excited about that, in case you were wondering. Plus we have our Love Bird Sessions this Saturday, and of course we have our usual email and editing tasks to stay on top of. So we may be quiet around here for a few days but we promise to be back sooner than later.

For now, we'll let you in on a couple of our favorite things. The first are fresh picked, floppy, pink peonies from the garden. Maggie managed to grow some in her yard this year and they're beautiful. They smell delicious and we feel are best when in a vase atop our desks. They fill our offices with the most wonderful perfume. The second of our favorite things, is the music of Ms. Nina Simone. Her albums are set to repeat most days at the editing desk. Don't ask us to choose our favorite song, we couldn't do it. Although, her version of "Cotton Eyed Joe" breaks our heart no matter how often we hear it. (And no it's not the version of that song you may be thinking of).

With peonies and Nina, we can get anything done.

Have a good rest to the week and don't forget to vote for your favorite couple in our Free Wedding Giveaway!

  1. Beautiful Peonies Maggie! I had some at our old house in DC that I loved...and I keep meaning to grow some at our La Plata house. Those and Hydrangas. Enjoying your blog!

  3. Thanks Emily, Maggie actually has peonies and hydrangeas in the garden at her house! Two of her favorites.

Maggie carried pink peonies, exactly like those in the photo on her wedding day! They're the perfect wedding flowers aren't they?
