Dear Santa

Hi guys! Hope you had a good weekend! We took a break from our marathon weekend of album designing to have dinner as a family Saturday night. Chipotle of course... cooking was OUT of the question and it happens to be Paw and Sweet Cheek's favorite. Easy decision. Right as we were finishing up we heard loud sirens coming around the block. These ear shattering, "everyone stop what you're doing and start panicking" sounds could only mean one thing. Santa!

Yep, around here the Fire and Rescue folks get together to drive Santa Claus himself around the neighborhoods on a fire engine. It's something they do a couple times in December, leading up to Christmas. Santa passes out candy canes and shouts "ho ho ho!"... it really is fun. Once we realized there had not been an accident or fire (yikes), we threw our dishes (tin foil) away and ran to get Sweet Cheeks bundled up to head out and wait for the big man to make his way to our corner of the neighborhood. This took forever. Sweet Cheeks was not happy to have to wait outside in the chilly air for so long, and had some choice words for Santa. Eventually the man in red arrived, Turner wanted nothing to do with him, and this was the only photo we got...

Obviously Mama and Dad were WAY more excited than the child.

Santa's drive by got us thinking... what would we put on our own Christmas lists if: 1. Santa existed and 2. we still actually made lists. Gift giving among the adults in our family went out the window with the birth of Sweet Cheeks. Gladly so. Having to buy gifts for everyone is a chore and (for us) it gets in the way of what we love most about this time of year. Without having to worry about massive gift lists, we can skip the shopping and instead, spend time together picking out and decorating a tree, baking cookies, watching way too many Christmas movies, driving around at night to look at lights, or just sitting around the fireplace talking. Of course, we do go slightly crazy with the amount of gifts "Santa" brings Sweet Cheeks. He's got about 8 "Santa's" all adding to his Christmas morning pile.

Anyway, back to the point of this post... our make believe Christmas list for Santa. Here's what we came up with.

1. Yarn. Yarn, yarn, yarn, yarn, yarn. She wants yarn. Lots of yarn. This woman's crazy about yarn and will knit a hat in an hour. So she needs lots of it.

2. The Mark III. Canon's newest addition and from all we're hearing... the greatest thing since sliced bread (again.)

3. One in every color please. Cowl necks are her thing.

4. Ah yes, the elusive pair of perfect fitting jeans. She's been searching for years. (Never going to happen.)

5. Yarn bowl for knitting. Again with the knitting.

6. Yummy, warm, comfy boots to wear anywhere. (Like winter photo shoots!)

7. Tory Burch business card holder? Fantastic and useful! (Gotta have a place to put all our new, fancy business cards!)

8. Christmas flannel throws. You can't ever have too many. Ever.

1. Benefit makeup kit, for the rare occasions she wears anything other than gym clothes and yoga pants ;)

2. Totally fake reading glasses. Because she's under the impression if she cuts her bangs and wears pretend glasses she'll look JUST like Zooey Deschanel.

3. Over sized turtleneck, fleece lined sweatshirt thing. Does she need a reason to want this? YOU want this now right?

4. A day planner/life organizer to keep a busy 2013 in line and working like a well oiled machine.

5. 24mm lens. This is one of Maggie's favorites, and it really is next on our list of equipment to buy.

6. Neutral shades of nail polish, for when she decides to stop biting her fingernails.

7. Tall, knit socks. Unlike the rest of the country, Maggie loves getting socks for Christmas.

8. A trendy chevron throw for her new living/dining space. (Not to mention where we'll start meeting with couples soon!)

9. You didn't think Betty was going to get boots to keep her feet warm at shoots, and Maggie miss out? No, she'll be needing some too thank you very much.

In reality what do we want? Health, safety and happiness for our family and friends. Give us that and we'll never need to make another Christmas list again. :)
